In The Mood For Love

The first of the Celebrate! series was launched on 12 January 2017 when we celebrated New Beginnings for the new year. Green tropical leaves adorned the dining area lending a fresh energy to Sitka. Guests were greeted with a chilled cold pressed gazpacho vodka. The meal started with fresh greens with a poached egg and truffles; a light crunchy, chlorophyll mess made fragrant with truffle. Local flounder served with a goats milk emulsion and sweet potato leaves followed and it finished off with a coconut crème caramel. Diners loved the meal and appreciated the lightness of every course, feeling satiated and full but not overly so. New friends were made over flowing conversations. The entire meal stayed true to Sitka’s philosophy of sourcing local as far as possible.

It’s monthly predecessor and our recent February installation “In the Mood for Love” adapted from Wong Kar Wai’s well-known film not only lived up to it’s guarantee of a unique cinematic night, but also provided guests with a culminating gastronomic experience.

Our “In The Mood For Love” themed Valentine’s Day supper club ran for 3 days beginning Valentine’s the 14th Feb. With beautiful and elegant Hong Kong themed posters adorning the walls, along with lanterns and birdcages hanging delicately from the ceiling – guests were transported back in time to the passion and romance of Wong Kar Wai’s film. To add to the mood of Valentine’s for all guests and couples, red Dahlia’s accompanied the restaurant’s decor on all tables.

The specially curated Valentine’s Day menu by Sitka Restaurant and Bar was of vibrant colour and zest to suit the festive mood. Guests were first started off with a bespoke cocktail ‘ The Organic Bramble’ to get their tastebuds flowing. Thereafter came the first dish – Salt Baked Beetroot, Whipped Goats Cheese and Hazelnut Miso Vinaigrette.

The main – Smoked chicken, Charred Choy Tum, Shiitake Butter Glaze and Mushroom Ketchup, was truly a well-balanced flavoured dish, allowing guests also to slowly savour their meal over good quality conversation. Finally, the course ended with a dessert which was just the perfect cherry on top – Organic Strawberries, Mascarpone Ice-cream, Scottish Shortbread and Black Olives.
